2003 C230K Panoramic Sunroof Squeak

My wife's 2003 C230K with panoramic sunroof continues to squeak (especially when cold) even after two visits to the dealer to modify it to the new design. The car was built in October, 2002 and I understand there has been at least one design change to address this issue. I also understand that Mercedes has issued a bulletin to address this issue and correct the problem but it has not seemed to correct this issue on my wife's vehicle. I am starting to think that it is time I insist that Mercedes replace the sunroof cartridge with the new design and forget about trying implement the "fix". Any input would be appreciated.

The more I deal with these people at Mercedes, the more ticked off I get. They say that you get a loaner when you bring in your car for service but then they tell you that there are no loaners available until next year!!!!! What a piece of crap (the car, the dealer, the service and the whole experience). The way they act they are giving away their customers to the competition (do I have to say LEXUS). On top of that they charge premium prices for the things that you have to pay for. If I had anything to do with Mercedes I would start looking for a new occupation. They will be like many other 100+ year old companies that have failed to adapt and will be in the history books.

one surefire way to get their attention is threaten to trade it in for a Lexus, UNLESS they fix their problem. Otherwise, Mercedes and the selling dealer will lose a customer. I'm suprised to hear Mercedes dropping to the level for 1990's Ford and Hyundai now.

I agree! Mercedes customer service is sinking to new lows. They have tried to fix the sunroof twice by pasting felt strips in critical areas to eliminate the squeaks but, as you would expect, these felt strips eventually come loose during sunroof operation and fall off. Mercedes needs to get real and replace this sunroof catridge with one that has durability.

Talking with Hyundai service writers, they indicate that although Hyundai ahd initial quality problems the dealers have very few warranty repairs anymore. I know of one Hyundai owner who now has 147,000 miles on his car and although it looks poor cosmetically it is still running and driving well.

Personally, I think it will be a long time before Mercedes lives down the reliability problems it is experiencing on vehicles produced since the introduction the the ML in 1998.
