I paid $1800 for my 1985 300D with 222,000 miles in February of 2004. The paint is faded and has three minor rust spots. The car had very complete records and good mechanical care. As of today she has 246,000 miles and is the most enjoyable car I have ever driven.

I paid $23,000 for my 1999 E300 with 48,000 miles in March of 2005 at a M-B dealership. The dealer wanted $29,000. When I told the salesman that I was not interested the price $6,000 suddenly fell of the price. It was a trade in for a new E320CDI. We saw the car a few hours after it was brought in. It was unprepped and every in of the car looked brand new. I don't think that it had ever been driven in the winter.

Just to add my purchase...

94' e320 w/98k

Price paid 11,000

Seems high...but the car physically looked showroom new, with not so much a ding in the body or scratch in the leather. Also, it came with full stamps for the history, and the wiring harness and engine mounts were replaced prior to sale. Extra's included lowered H&R suspension, Brabus wheels w/new Pirelli's , Lower rockers painted to match body, and custom front bumper to update the look. THis car gets more looks than my old 911 turbo and drives great, solid, quiet, and smooth. Since i bought it i did clear headlamps, side markers, LED tailights, lip spoiler, AMG door sills/exhaust, and sheepskinz. Only showing 101,400 miles on it now almost 1 year since purchase!

82 3oo Turbo

I purchased an excellent condition original paint etc '82 5 years ago for $6200 with 92, 000. What a wonderful classic ride. Sure beats a 25K new car!! It is the 4th Mercedes Diesel I have owned.

83 240D and 92 300D 2.5 Turbo

83 240D $740

Spent a good while figuring out that the PO didn't have a clue about the vacuum routing for the transmission he had just put in. Which is why I got it cheap. Have spent about $500 on it so far - WVO kit (FPHE and Injector line heaters), tranny filter, fuel filters, etc. No major work except fixing up the vacuum, replacing the brake master cylinder, and refurbishing the front brake calipers.

92 300D 2.5 Turbo $3350

I think this was a deal. We didn't know what it was really worth when we bought it. Anyway, it runs great. Had a few minor issues which took a while to find - leak in vac modulator cap made the gears shift hard (which is I think why we got it cheap - hard shifts - PO thought tranny was going out). Also replaced 4 hydraulic lifters, although Mobil 1 syth oil had actually fixed the problem. But it was still clacking - turned out to be a bad injector nozzle. Also the Vacuum transducer went out and the turbo stopped. But I swapped it with the EGR transducer and works fine now. I figure I can live without EGR.
Gets 35 mpg average. Love it.

I just (2 moths ago) picked up an 82 240D 4 speed with only 52K original miles. White with tan int. Bought it from the original owner for $6000. Has all the original documentation. I was driving it home and looking around inside and noticed a black cassette in the becker deck, I popped it in and it said "welcome to your new stereophonic becker sound system" it was the original owners familiarization tape for the deck!

A little high for an 82 but the car is in like new cond, inside and out! The only things I've had to do so far are the normal old 123 items. Even though the car has been garraged most of its life the rubber around the front and rear windows have dried out and shrunk up a small bit over the years so I had them replaced, flushed the PS fluid, brake fluid ect ect. Also this year came with a PLASTIC factory gas tank. I kept smelling fuel in the car, especially when I would fill up. Someone told me that mercedes issued a service bulletin for that car to get rid of the plastic tank so I changed out the plastic tank to a custom Long Range aluminum tank made for the car that I had lying around. I debated on keeping the car 100% stock but i ended up installing the long range tank (39gal and it looks pretty factory in the trunk once the carpet and backing board are re-installed) and installing a new radio in place of the becker (I kept all the original items also and won't do anything to the car thats not easily reversable). So far I'm super happy with the car, I was looking at buying a new honda civic and now I'm glad that I found the 240D. The 240 is a very comfortable relaxing car to drive.
