Throttle surging!!! 1994 W124 E320
Hello,
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as this problem is getting me to the point where I'm about ready to write off the car. The car's throttle will be cut and then surge from idle to about 2K RPM. The problem seems to be related to one of the electical or vaccuum lines located on the front passenger side floor because a front passenger can trigger the problem by placing his or her foot / purse in the wrong position. By lifting their feet, they can stop the problem. My car has had the wiring harness "fix" that involves shoving more insulation around the harness under the metal plate the covers most of the wiring. I have driven around with the carpeting removed and had someone wiggle different wires and apply pressure in different places; however, I can not seem to duplicate the problem when I want to. Has anyone else had experience with this problem? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks. Will Last edited by WRS; 01-04-2004 at 03:25 PM. |

Does the car idle fine normally? What about idle speed? Is it high? I have a high idle speed occasionally, but haven't been able to locate the source. This started occuring right after I replaced the throttle actuator.

03/95-2 M104 WITH HFM INJECTION SYSTEM
In case of customer complaints of high idle (approximately >2200 rpm) for a very short period of time (< 1 second) immediately after cold start, an updated EA/Idle control unit is available from our PDCs. The updated control units can be identified by a software production date of "SW 43/94" and higher stamped on the housing in the area of the barcode label. The following control unit part numbers are affected: Electronic Accelerator Control Units Part No. 124 545 65 32 - E320 129 545 05 32 - SL320 140 545 49 32 - S320 202 545 01 32 - C280 Idle Control Units Part No. 124 545 55 32 - E320 129 545 19 32 - SL320 140 545 52 32 - S320 202 545 43 32 - C280

I fear my 1993 w/M104 is having the same issue, primarily on colder mornings.
Would this also cause "slight" hesitation from a rest, with low throttle application, when engine is still fairly cold? Do both of these parts need replacing? Also, where is the housing located, so I can check to see if the "SW 43/94" is lower on my car. Thanks guys, FQ
