It has been suggested that ceramic pads are very hard on rotors.
Have not tried them myself.

In looking around the web since the post above I found ceramic is noted for being quiet, leaving less dust and getting up to 70% greater longevity than standard pads. They are said to be easier on rotors as they are somewhat softer, and used as OEM for a lot of car lines.... Yet there aren’t many comments overall about them
Anyone use them???

even regular PBR pads are a "well kept secret", all comments i've seen on ceramic are that they are rotor eaters. wonder how it compares to the PBR/Axxis metalmasters? there are some claims that they are not that bad on rotors but i've also heard they are noisy and wear rotors more than regular pads...

Numerous loud squeal complaints. Try them, but be prepared for noise. You must use anti-squeal shims with them, I believe, available separately.

If those ceramic pads are anything similar to what I have tried on my Corvette, their performance when cold is not anywhere near the performance of a regular brake pad. In order to be really effective in improuving braking performance, they must be hot.
Your first attemp to slow down whit cold brakes will be frightening. Jackd |

These pads were designed for racing not convention driving. If you do not mind replacing rotors, get them. Just ask the Honda preformance guys.

git0,
Just be aware that these were designed to have a higher tolerance to brake fade but, they also have a higher heat operating range and can cause rotors to overheat. Most preformance Honda guys prefer to use them with cross drilled Brembo rotors. |

Just last week, asked my indie about low-dust pads. He mentioned ceramics from PBR, initially out for the Japanese cars and gradually being extended to the rest; his wholesaler didn't yet have them for the 107. The shop is quite pleased so far and would recommend them for my 560SL when they're available; no noise issues, very low dust, and not inordinately hard on rotors as I'm told. I suspect these are a different animal from the older ceramics.

I tried two sets of PBR pads on my S600 and both sets were terrible- the squeak was unbelievable- I talked to PBR technical guys and tried "breaking in" the pads, as they suggested, with no success- my adive- stick to the OEM pads and save yourself a lot of headache

Just finished putting PBR Deluxe and Balo rotors on rear, on my '92 today. No brake squeal evident. Even used brake squeal goop too. I will do the same on the front using my Ate rotors and PBR Deluxe Pads later.
I try to stay within the confines of OE generally. Ceramic pads were not OE on my car. |

I just did a pad swap on the rear of my ML. I found that one of the pads was constructed wrong. Left side pad plate used to build a right side pad. Also, there was no provision for wear sensor. My advice...STAY CLEAR OF PBR.

Many thanks for the comments! I'm gonna have ceramic pads on the ML.
