My cars tranny fluid seems to be about an inch or a half inch above the high mark
Would this cause my first shift to be a bit rough? All other shifts are fine. Also can I siphon out some of the fluid from where the dip stick goes?

1. Are you checking it with the engine running at full operating temp aand on very level ground? If the engine is not running, it will show high on the stick if the level is correct.
2. I have siphoned from the dipstick tube. Probably shouldn't, but i did. Used a new, burr-free section of plastic hose, wiped clean with a clean lint-free towel. 3. Tranny fluid is NOT my beverage of choice!! (And the after-taste hangs around for a long time)

I don't think you have to drain some of the tranny oil. if you have over filled it maybe. but you say that the tranny have shifted this way for a long time. if the problem came after an oil refill, maybe thats the problem, but not likely. the level will drop when engine is running. this is because the oil pump is building up the pressure that the tranny needs to engage the clutch inside the tranny. and the other way when you switch of the engine, the level will rise.

the engine is running and fully warmed and its a good part above that high line. I want it in between. I bought a $2 siphon that was worthless. I'm going to bring it back. It stunk. I'm thinking of just dripping it out the bottom. Anyone know if the tranny drain plus is easily visable? I dont remember seeing it
