Subframe bushes

Hi ,
This is my first post,
I need to replace the front bushes on the rear subframe, question is will the subframe drop low enough to allow me to replace them without disconecting other items apart from the front mounts, any problems that I may encounter or advice much appreciated.

Peter

Peter,

Depending on your model, there is a ton of info on this site regarding replacement of sub-frame bushings. I did a search using the search feature above. I entered two words: rear subframe

Here are the results: rear subframe

I belive it is the same as the W124 rear subframe, and yes, it will drop down enough to change the mounts. Do one side at a time (you will need to fabricate something to pull the old mounts out and pull the new ones in with). You will have to remove the ABS sensor and disconnect the ASR if you have it, and maybe the rear brake lines to avoid damage.

I'm saving my pennies (the submersible pump in our well died Thursday night, so there goes the fun money this month....) to collect all the bits to do mine, all four are shot plus most of the links are bad, too. Figure I'll do the whole thing at once and then do an alignment.

Here is a very good description with a PDF download of how to do the rear subframe bushings by cornblatt.

Rear Subframe Bushing Replacement

Like Peter said both the 190 and 124 are very similar.

Did you also change the rear rear subframe bushings. If so any problems? They look much easier. Going to do mine this weekend.
