Finally made sure my brake lights
were fitted with the German bulbs.
So after many many years without
cruise control, it started working
again ! Unglaublich !!

You mean you were running all that time with no brake lights.

The circuit that uses the brake lights doesn't care how many or what wattage only that it is pulled to ground. All the bulbs must have been out or your controller has a problem.

Yes, you are probably correct. This was on the 300D. I had read that using
other than the proper bulbs can
cause the cruise control not
to work. Well the brake lights
were matched for the brakes but
not the 'German' ones.
Thanks for your input.

Cruise Control antics revisited

My cruise control worked as my last post on this thread indicates, but later
would not set on correct speed.
I have not used it for some time.
The other day I tried it and it worked flawlessly
for several miles (25) but then it disconnected while going up a steep incline on the freeway.
After I reset it, it lost 10 miles per hour before
holding the speed. Later it lost 15 then 20.
So now it is flawed again.
Does this behavior narrow down the cause to either the computer or to the actuator (vacuum) ?

Could this just be a vacuum leak?

Thanks.
