I just replaced the control pressure cable in my 83 300D, is there a rule of thumb as to adjusting it? The adjusting screw on the old one was in bad shape. Also how can I find a competant trans mech. Transmission work has never been my area of expetrise, and after reading a few post on the subject I know these trans. are out of my league. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Basically the cable should start pulling at the same time as the inj pump starts moving. This isn't the same thing as linkage movement. A number of activities take place before the pump starts moving.

The hard thing about finding a tech for making these adjustments is that they are old cars now and most of the adjustments weren't as necessary after 1985. My main MB transmission tech leaves these adjustments to me as I have been doing them nearly twenty years at 2-5 a week.

If you get a wild hair to learn your beast let me know; I have writen a number of long posts about it.

Thank's Steve. I kinda figured I would have a problem finding a tech. with the car being so old. I used to rebuild auto trans. when I was at the local Chrysler deaalership, so im familiar with american tranny's but it's been about 15 years. But if you have some detailed post on the subject an recommended testing equipment then I should be able to figure it out. And as helpful as this forum is I believe that I will tame this beast.
