Brake pad recommendation??
I'm planning to change the front pads this weekend. What is the best pad available? Where can I get them. It could wait till next weekend if needed for shipping? Also do the wear sensors have to be replaced each time?
Thanks, Chad |

You can order then from FastLane at the top of this page. Last set of brakes I stuck MB pads up front and PBR pads on the rear. I 2K miles the front rims were black with dust and the rears were nearly as clean as they were when I remounted them after installing the brakes. PBR's are the way to go.

I agree with Tangas. With the help from the members I did my first brake job. On advise I bought the PBR. Two weeks later the wheels are hardly dusty. PBR deluxe was the way to go in my opinion.

I agree with the guys above. I installed PBR Deluxe on all corners 3 months ago and am thrilled. The brakes feel great and the wheels look great after weeks of driving.

From research on this site and elsewhere I settled with Textar 'yellow box' or MB OE.

Cleaning my wheels is therapuetic for me, so I prefer to use Textar pads.

I used the PBR Deluxe on all four corners. Based on the info here on the board, they are not as hard as the metal masters and are easier on the rotors. I rather replace the pads than the rotors. They have a good feel to it and they are definately cleaner. After 4 weeks, the front looks barely dirtier than the rear, which is a great improvement, as the OEMs had dirty fronts within a day or two.
The sensors are only around a dollar each and my car (W126) has 2 at each front rotor. They often brake when you pull them out with the needle nose pliers. I did get new ones. Take a look at the rotor too. If it has a pretty thick lip, you might want to measure its thickness. There are service limits on these. My front rotors were at the limit after less than 50,000 miles. Good luck Reinhard Kreutzer |
