My car is an 85' 300D 124 (603 engine). I noticed my battery warning light lit up on the dash and I smelled something burning. I stopped the car and checked under the hood and everything seemed to be ok. Fanbelt was intact and spinning but the warning light was still on and got stronger when I rev the engine.

What could be wrong? Alternator? Could it be the DIODES or CARBON BRUSH?

Thanks guys!

It could not be the brushes. The light is turned on throught the brushes. My money is on the diodes and a new belt.
