W210 Slow A/C Blower Motor

Looking for possible solutions to a problem with my 98 W210 Wagon and a new condition of a slow blower motor.

Overall the interior climate control blower is much slower than before, in either auto or manual modes.

When using the manual mode, the speed control buttons and indicator bars will react and show the associated indicator bar increase with each button push, up or down. Of the seven possible indicator bar settings, the fan speed will adjust on all settings except the last two, which produce no increased fan speed even though the indicator bars will show full blast. Again, even tough there is a fan speed change on the 5 lower bars, the fan speed is still slower than it used to be.

All other functions appear normal. It will still give me cold air, just much slower.

Any help will be appreciated. Our winters are hot in Hawaii!

Aloha,

Gabby

I am having the same problem with my 98 E320 Station Wagon. Did you fix yours? If so, what was the problem?

ssks,

Chances are you need a new blower motor regulator. Unfortunately, it has been superceded with different part, which also requires replacing the blower motor itself.

Try some searches, this is a common problem with the W210s.

Where is the blower regulator located? Is it easy to get to?

It's behind/under the glove box.
The glove box needs to be removed which can be tricky.
Do a search there's tons of info on that topic for the W210.

I removed the blower regulator and the part number on it is 9-140-010-179.

Do you know where I can buy this part?

I think the regulator for the W210 has been updated and normally requires the purchase of both regulator and blower.
However, I seem to remember some members have done otherwise by buying a regulator for the W140 I think or some other kind.
Try a search, for W210 and regulator, you should find plenty of info.
For parts you can check out Fastlane (top of this page), that will support the forum.

The blower regulator from W140 will work. The harness will have be extended to make it fit properly.

Good luck.

I found & purchased a blower with regulator on e-bay for $250. It arrived today and I replaced it myself in less than 1 hour. Everything works perfectly now just in time for the anticipated hot summer.

Thanks for your advice.
