I see many places offering European Headlights for the 124 chasis. The adds mention modifications for the headlight wipers....what modifications are they referring too?

I have to replace both glass lamps on my CE along with headlight housing on the drivers side due to some broken clips. So If I am going to spend money on replacing these items, I been thinking of converting the lights to the flat look.

Thanks again!

They are probably referring to the fact that the headlight wiper mounting needs to be modified in order to retain functionality of the US wipers with the Euro lights. This is an easy DIY task.

The alternatives are 1) do without wipers, or 2) install the matching Euro wipers ($$ several hundred). You'll find a discussion of the modification procedure and the advantages of Euro lights by searching 'Euro Lights' and 'barrie'.

Hope this helps.

I replaced the US-spec headlights on both my cars with European ones. Bought them from Capitol West. The ones for my 560SEL came with a bracket kit for re-mounting the headlight wipers. Lights are great and the wipers work, too.

For those of you interested in Euro lights on a 124, there is an article in the July/August issue of Star. It not only goes over the installation of these lights, but also gives information on using relays to up the safe lamp wattage. You can then use super high wattage lamps for an even greater headlight system.

Good luck,
