where can I get benz r-12 gauges?
I am talkd with a couple local car parts stores and non of them sell R-12 gauges. When it starts getting warmer here I am going to pay for my mom's cousin to take the EPA test. He has a couple other refrigerant licenses but not this one. So where could I get some to fit on my 1979 300SD?
Thanks David

Find an a/c supply store. These are the stores where the home and commercial a/c guys buy their stuff. They will have zillions of types of manifold sets and hoses. These sets are used for R12, R22 and R502. These will do great.
Anothe alternative is to go to www.aircondition.com. There are several suppliers available there where you can buy online. This is a great source of tech Q&A as well. Good luck, |

Says 36" hoses, but I'd call to make sure that they are included.

I guess I would only need the adapters for it. My mom's cousin has a/c gauges that he uses for refrigerators and commercial stuff like r-22. I think that's what he used to use it for. He said the gauges he has works fine on his '89 Ford Ranger, but they won't go on my car, we have tried. Well, we didn't actually push it on or anything to release we just looked at it and saw that it wouldn't fit.
Thanks David

It sounds like your car has been converted to a different refrigerant. When this is done, adapters are screwed onto the original service fittings. If this is the case, they are supposed to place a sticker somewhere under the hood with information about the conversion. This is the law, but some do not follow it.
Do the connectors on the car not have threads? If not then they are not R12 connectors and it has been converted. Best of luck, |

The fittings have threads. It's just that the "needle" is further down than his Ford I think. It seems to be pretty far down there.
Thanks David
