glow plugs
I bought a 1959 190d 2 weeks ago, it was hard to start so I replaced the battery and glow plugs then sand blasted the rust off the ends of the rods connecting the plugs. Now it starts great, but the little coil on the dash that indicates the glow plugs are lit along with the coil under the hood keep glowing. The shop manual I got with the car doesn't cover the diesel, but until I get the cd, does anyone have any ideas? I didn't know any better & stayed with the loop style/series glow plugs. I haven't located a relay, I think it is a manual system tied to the starter knob.

Don't know this vehicle. Maybe the glowplugs burned out because the supply doesn't turn off. You fixed the symptom, but not the problem.
Or pehaps this is meaningless mumblings!
