1977 240D into 1976 240D

Hello,
I have a question about putting a '77 240D into
a '76 240D. The 2 engines have different oil filter assemblies. They both mount on the drivers side of the engine, but the '77 mounts at the back of the block, and the '76 under the injector pump. At first glance, it appears the '77 oil filter will hit the '76 firewall. Can I mount the '76 filter onto the '77 block?

Thanks for any help on this,
Brian

I suppose it's possible, but you will have to have a remote filter setup.

You need an OM615 engine for the W115 chassis. The W123 chassis uses an OM616.
