Few people keep cars for 20+ years, so radiator shops could care less how long a repair lasts or what coolant blend will provide maximum component service life. At best you get about a 90 day warranty.

Corrosion is a very complex subject and a lot of mechanisms aren't well understood. Research is ongoing and the proliferation of organic and hybrid antifreeze blends is one of the benefits. The old green antifreeze is being phased out by chemical manufacturers because none of the major OEMs use it anymore. It's been obsoleted by better products.

People who keep cars a long time and want to get maximum service life from their cooling systems can certainly gain insight into practices used in the nuclear power industry.

Tidbit of information

I just went over some ten year old old notes from a visit with an automotive cooling engineer the other day. He mentioned that the OAT (organic acid technology) formulation has heat transfer characteristics that are halfway between water and regular antifreeze.

.

Kestas:

Now that sir is some useful information - heat transfer characteristics of OAT vs. EVIL GREEN. No nuclear reactor BS - just straightforward information that applies to cars.
