my mb 380SL wants to idle at 1100 or so rpm, I have replaced control motor, idle valve, and checked computer under passenger floor board.
Some times it will idle at 600 as it should, but it will not stay there: occasionally there is a strange semi-electrical smell from the engine - but nothing ever burns. Help please....John |

What do you mean by "control motor?"
The "computer" in the floor is the lambda controller. What did you do to check that? If you send me an email, I will send the test procedure from the CD to you.

I would check the throttle switch first.
