560se engine and trans help needed :)

Firstly hello to everyone, ive been reading through this site for a few days now and hope that i may be able to get some help as im in a little bit of a sticky patch

i recently bought and engine and transmission from a 560se allegedly a 1991 model. cant verify the year.
Am intending on using it in a wee project (id rather not say what as i dont want to be flamed by board members for butchering such a fine MB, it wasnt me!)
Basically the chap i bought it from has gas axed through everything to get it out of the vehicle as fast as possible. ive got wires and vac pipes all over the place.

Is or are there some form of service manual for the engine that will tell me what does what and where, so i can strip off all the parts i dont want/need?
The way its looking it looks easier to strip and Megasquirt it, but i can see various wires and vac pipes going to the g/box, what would these be for and could it function without them?
Theres no box of tricks attached to the dizzy, just a bunch of chopped wires *holds head in grief*

The engine code is 117 968 and thats about all i can definitely tell you people

basically any help, pics, info, links or a friendly 'what were you thinking of' would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Phill.
