Is there a resistance that a bad wire will show? All my current plug wires show the same exact resistance except for one, which shows a really high number. It is the coil to distributor wire. The four other wires are showing the same resistance. I have an 86 190e 2.3-16. Any suggestions as to which set of plug wires work the best? The ones I took off were an aftermarket set. I reinstalled a Bosch OE set that I had on the car for about 30000 miles before i changed it to the aftermarket set. I bought this set from Bekkers.
Thanks, Joe |

Since the real OE wires are just that, solid stranded wire, there isn't any resistance drop like American cars. But the spark plug ends are the resistors. There have been 3 different values over the years 1K, 2K, & 5K ohms. At the coil there is usually a 1K ohm resistor. Most of the Bosch aftermarket stuff is Stranded cloth like american junk. The wires (OE copper) themselves rarely go bad but the resistor ends fail & can be replaced by themselves. Beru replacements are OE quality with solid core wires unlike Bosch(even at dealer).
