Slow download with new banner?

Has anyone else had trouble with a MUCH slower download time for this site, now that the new Prestige banner is up there? Admittedly, I have a dial-up modem so may not be an issue for those with high-speed internet connections.

I appreciate the sponsorship, which allows this site to remain free to all of us. I would wonder, though, if there might be a way to simplify the graphics in the banner to speed things up again.

Sorry for the non-"Tech Help" topic, but I figure this forum is probably the main attraction for most of us.

I doubt if the Prestige banner is the issue. That pic is much, much smaller than the Kleeman banner that's been around for quite a while...

I've noticed the slowdown recently and mentioned it to Phil the other day. And I'm on a 3000/256 cable connection.

It was slower the first time I opened it with the new banner, but seems OK since.

I noticed that it takes much longer to "submit" a reply. Sometimes it hangs for a minute or so.

EDIT: Not in the case for this particular post, touch and go?

There's been a lot of nasty Internet traffic with some of the new worms that are out. The ISP that this site uses may well have been getting swamped. I use an OC3 connection at work and it was crawling for a few days. Lot's of nasties running around out there!
