Angry 560 SEL door noise

I have a 1991 560 SEL with 16,000 miles on it. I am the original owner and in all likelihood will be put in the ground with it. It is truly my pride and joy, however it has one annoying thing that is driving me crazy. There is a noise that originates at the passenger door; a squeak or slight rattle?. It sounds as though the door panel is rubbing on something. I have removed the panel tightened the nuts that hold the wood trim, lubed it with silicone but the sound is still there. Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

It's most likely the bottom of the door panel rubbing against the plastic sill. Typically it becomes more pronounced as the temps fall, at least that's when I notice it. I've applied a vinyl conditioner (MeGuiars product) and that worked for a few weeks. Some have even applied cross-country ski wax!

It's been a topic on this board since I've been here, so for more ideas try the search function here and see what else you can come up with. With 16k miles, I can't imagine the door pieces being loose. It's more of an inherent issue with the 126 chassis.

Hi Lou,

I cut the little lip off the sill. I believe it just gets too hard
Squeeking finally stopped.

Good luck
