Where does the belt tensioner pointer set when the belt is correctly tightened on a 16v. Mine has a graduated scale that increases. When tensioning, it starts from the left and moves right. It is currently between the two extremes. When I first tried setting it, I assumed it went all the way to the right, but the pin that holds the rod snapped. Oops, guess that was too tight. The manual says the fifth mark but that doesn`t apply with the tensioner I have. Thank you.

That was the old style tensioner.
I put them to 3/4ths of the scale. Tighten the center bolt!! This takes the stress off of the rod. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 1991 GMC Syclone ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
