Change .4 trans fluid , or not?
Fella's,
My W210 has done 125K, and I'm considering changing the fluid of the .4 auto transmission. I believe the MB service schedule says that the fluid lasts for life, just like the diff in my previous W124 which went $$$ out at 100K... ![]() What's your opinion? I understand it's not a cheap job like changing PS fluid, so if it's pointless I don't really mind skipping it. Thanks!

Only the 722.6 trans has "life-time" fill. The life time of that fluid is about 60K-75K miles!!
A 722.4 trans needs service every 30K miles.

Be certain that the torque converter is drained of old transmission fluid as well.
BTW, "lifetime fill" is best considered as referring to the lifetime of the warranty. ![]() |
