Post Need Instrument Cluster Help 86 300E

Hello, I think I need some help here. My cluster went out in my 300e, I got one on e-bay from a wrecking company....I think Im going to run into a problem tho. The new cluster is out of a 91 300E and as I said mine is an 86 300E. Are the gears different? Will the Speedometer be off? If so, how do I Fix it?

I would like to say thank you to everyone, I have a better understanding of my great little pain in the butt car, and i have enjoyed reading the posts.

How did your cluster go out? You may be able to swap your old speedometer over to the new cluster, but that depends on what's broken, and whether there are any component differences between the 88 and 91 MY (which I am not aware of).

Instrument Cluster Help 86 300E

It was actually the odometer and trip that do not work as well as the outside temp it is 1/2 black and you cant read it. Oh and the clock. The cluster I got was only $45.00, I have seen the temp piece go for more than that.
