How Do You Change Your Oil?
I would like to do my own oil changes on my 1991 350SDL (W126 body) and 380SL. Can you do an oil change without getting these cars up on a lift?
Thank you. |

Oooohhhhh Boy...
Do a search under "topsider" and "oil change" set aside a month to read everything that's been said/debated on this topic...

Yup, if you're contemplating changing any of the fluids or filters in your car, just do a search and you'll get enough reading material, good advice, and funny asides, to keep you reading into the wee hours.

I can tell you for a 300SD (1984 also 126 body). To change the oil you dont need a lift or even a jack (assuming the car hasnt been lowered). There is enough room under the car to get an oil drain pan under the engine, and remove the drain plug if your willing to lay on the ground. If you suck the oil out from above you dont even need to get on the ground (again check the archives).
Good luck Paul |

On my car once I removed the plastic pans, all you do is reach under and undo the drain plug. Mines a 300SDL, no need for jacks.
