can anyone share the procedure for removing the ACC unit from an '87 560SEL? i just got a replacement and if its not too difficult, i'd like to save some cash and do it myself.
any help would be appreciated.

when i said ACC, i mean the climate control unit.

You mean the push button unit on the dash above the stereo?

If so do a search here and you will find step by step instructions.

Pull the ashtray, remove the stereo, then the wood panel pulls off, find detailed instructions though as you don't want to break the panel.

replace ALL the lights in there while you have it apart! Its not a job that is fun to repeat. If you want instructions regarding the procedures I can help.

it was relatively easy to remove/replace the unit. i didn't think about the lights until it got dark out. i don't know how the lights are attached, but would like to know how its done. in any event i bought the used unit for a $100 from sun valley. a great place for used parts, cheap.
