I had this problem in my 2001 Jaguar S Type... It was the alignment.. It just so happened that the alignment is so touchy on that car that it was hard to get right.. And with the Pirelli tires being soft as they are the tires wore out on the outer edges which amplified the vibration/shimmy.. I feel for you.. EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

Well, we think we have found the problem.
The right front wheel is out of position - too far forward and too far out to the side - probably 1/2 inch out in each direction. Apparently the accident damage fix is seriously flawed. This may be too expensive to fix. Only question in my mind, how did the MB dealer align this car? Paul

Paul, that's a very valid question. I'd certainly have the MB dealer demonstrate their alignment procedure for you. As with any sophisticated machine it's critical that the operator knows how to use the machine properly. How did the dealer Starmark this car in such conditon? Seems like you're in a position to have the car properly repaired under warranty or get a full refund. Our local MB dealers don't sell used MB's that have had structural damage. Instead they send them to auction.
BTW how did you determine that the right front wheel is out of position?

The verdict is in.
Previous right front accident damage was not repaired correctly - the right front wheel is not located properly. Every time that wheel hits a bump, the front suspension cannot respond properly. Our local MB dealer will make it all right for only $9648.08. The big thing is to replace the right front apron and rail assembly - all the rest is labor and incidentals to get the old apron and frame out and put the new one in.
