300E intermittent surging/stalling/bad mpg solved!
The last few weeks my '86 w124 300E has been surging when accellerating from standstill and sometimes stalling. It also had very bad mpg.
I have had this problem before and my mechanic could only make it go away by replacing the intire injection system and "some relays" (mark that one!) This time the problem was intermittent, so i figured it had to be a bad electrical connection somewhere. -And it was! The OVP relay is always mentioned as a possible culprit. So the first thing i did was yank that out. I found the connectors (brass legs) to be covered in green powder from deteriorating brass. I polished the connectors with fine sandpaper and plugged the relay back in. -The car has been running like a dream ever since! ![]() Freestyler
