Fuel Smell after Fuel Line R/R
I have an 87 420SEL. A few weeks ago one of the fuel hoses near the fuel pump sprung a leak. I dont know which hose began to leak because I was out of town , so I told my son to have the car towed to our local indie garage where they replaced the fuel tank hose and the fuel pump hoses. Ever since the hoses have been replaced, I now smell fuel odors when I'm driving the car. At first I thought there was some residual gas on the underside of the car from the initial leak but I've hosed the underside of the car to wash away any fuel. I smell the faint odor of gas when I'm driving the car around town doing 35 mph. I dont smell fuel odors consistenly.
Then a few days ago I filled up the tank, and then parked the car in the garage and open the trunk to retrieve something. The trunk was filled with the odor of fuel.
For the last two weeks I have been constanlty looking under the car to see if I can find fuel dripping somewhere but Im not seeing anything nor am I seeing a decrease in my gas mileage to indicate im leaking fuel. Any suggestions on where to look for the source of these odors?
Thanks
