Also check the idle control valve for proper funtion, it if sticks you may have trouble.

I'd also clean the venturi on the fuel distributor and check for smooth movement of the air metering flap hot -- if the seals on the plunger are bad, or the plunger is scored, it could hang at idle, causing funny air fuel mix.

You could also have a bad throttle position senor pot. This will cause the same problems as a bad accelerator pump -- no reponse on throttle opening for a second or two.

Hello Peter when i first get on my car runs perfect for about 1km soon after i get the throttle lag but if i let go the gas petal and press on again i get a better response . then 02 sensor kicks in .it runs 80 % better. but soon it gets a bet warm iam going to take a look at the fuel distributor and icv and hoses tank you Peter tony

I'm thinking this is a lambda problem. Like the car is in "lambda limbo." Something is hanging up when the systems electronic control comes into play. During this time the incorrect amount of fuel is being metered. Just my theory, and I am open to all suggestions.

Can someone explain exactly what happens during this transition (open to closed loop)?

A question Tony- Do you experience this problem when you first run the car during the day and it gets to about 60degreesC? I get a weird surging on the road for about 45 seconds.

Mike
Hi mike yes i do experience the same problem it runs good for about 1km when cold then i get the weird surging til 02 sensor comes on. runs 80% better after. then if i shut engine off and restart 5 minutes later i get no thottle response for about 2 minutes then goes back to normal some times if iam stop d at a red light and it turns green i get no response from the throttle . tony

Tony, I have some free time tomorrow and will poke around in the engine compartment for anything suspect.

Sounds like we have the same problem, so I will let you know what I come up with.

Ctaylor- thanks for the description.

Psfred, I will take your advice and check what you recoemmended.

I am going to take a shot at this problem tonight.

Anyone solved this problem (detailed earlier in post) before?
