Seat Motor Stuck W124 500E

It seems the gears get stuck in the up and down position. The inboard rear gear looks kind of bad.
I looked at the MB repair CD and it appears the parts are available seperately.

Are the seat gears/motors common with 400E? Sportline?
Has anyone out there done a rebuild?
I heard they are pretty expensive to replace and don't want to throw away $$ at the dealer.

hmmm. That's interesting. Haven't done a rebuild on MB seats, But I've replaced plenty of motors on BMW and Volvo seats. Its the same generic motor on all 3 cars pretty much. You should be able to snag one from the local salvage and slap it on. Incidentally, I sent you email that I'll be in Austin in the little RED car on Fri / Sat if you want to do a heads up comparison of the 500E's
