I am a new owner of 2000 E320 4matic. The car has 42,000 miles but no more warranty. Recently the car developed high pitch noise that is coming from the right side air dock when heater/ac fan running at low speeds(auto). It is like whistle, very annoying. Any suggestions?

Is the door for the air outlet open?
If not, you'll have a major whistle. ![]()

2000 E320, blower motor noise
It's open. I suspect the noise might be coming from an aspirator motor/sampler blower motor. I just do not know how to get to it. I am open for more suggestions.

Go to " search " , type in " aspirator motor ", and have fun reading about it.

Manny,
I can’t find any similar problem on late model E320(W210) in the forum. This noise drives me crazy! It comes and it goes. Would clean the motor help? How can I get to it? Last edited by 4matic; 04-02-2004 at 10:24 PM. |

2000 E320, blower motor noise
The noise is coming from the Blower Motor. The only problem that two identically looking Motors are available in the parts store. They are identified per chassis number. Where is the chassis number in my car? Help!!

Check your PM. I wouldn't read anything into the illustration of the blowermotor. I believe FastLane tends to use the same picture for a number of things, that doesn't mean they look/are identical. ![]()

The update: The blower motor's bearings were making the noise, so I decided to change the motor. It was easy, about 20 minutes job, but what a surprise, the new blower motor is making the same high pitch noise at the low speeds! What is wrong with Mercedes? I am going to try to exchange the motor and see if this will solve the problem. May be I got defective part? The funny thing that according to Mercedes service records the previous owner had the same problem with blower motor 13 months ago.
Did anybody experience same problem? ![]() Last edited by 4matic; 04-02-2004 at 10:25 PM. |

I don't have an answer to this question, but I would suggest reposting the problem with a more descriptive subject line. I think you'll get more responses from others with the same problem if you let folks know what the problem is in the subject line. Try something like "Noisy blower motor, 2000 E320" or something similar. (A lot of listers may tend to see a subject like "noise" and just scroll over it.)
Good luck!

Have you tried a blower regulator?I have heard about the regulator making a noise and being mistaken for a motor.

Gfst8, you are wright. The noise is gone!!! It was not the blower motor fault that was the regulator switch making all the noise. This is a $100 fix.
Thanks |
