Some this and thaat questions:


1. Power sunroof, operates intermittently and slow when it does work.

2. Drivers window operates real slow and stops sometimes. If you wait a little bit it finally wil raise or lower.

3. The drivers side low beam and high beams take turns working.

4. From inside the car, when I am turning left, one can hear what I think is the power steering pump sound as if it is low on fluid. You can feel something in the steering wheel also. The resevoir I believe is full enough and you can not hear the pump from under the hood.

Any recommendations or comments?

You may have a ground problem in the electrical system. YOU will have to do some trouble shooting to find out.

Both the window and the sunroof sound like lubrication/alignment type problems. The window mechanism on the 116 chassis warp from the load (especially without lube). Once warped they tend to lift at an awkward angle which causes the problem to get worse.

I was in the trunk working on the taillight bulb sockets (cleaning oxidation off the contact surfaces) when I decided I would look into the sunroof motor. I had my son press the sunroof switch while I had my test light on the contacts of the connector plug. I was not able to get any current either up or down. This leads me to believe that a bad ground is the culprit. I had the taillight all torn apart, so I shelved that detective work for a while longer.

I was able to get the headlights to work properly. The fuse for the right side high beam apparently had a little bit of oxidation on it, because all I had to do was spin it back and forth a couple of times and everything worked fine. The fog lampps sure have really weird looking bulbs. Are these easily obtainable? I have never seen anything like them.

By the way, what are "standeng lamps"? I know how they are switched and which lights they are on the car, but what are they for?

If you are talking about the lights that either light up just the left or just the right side, they are used (in Germany at least) when you park along the street (one tire on the road one on the sidewalk). A safety issue I suppose. The right side lights would come in to use on the numerous one-way streets on which you may park on both sides of the curb.
