96 C280 Code P0116

I got the above code on my scanner. It says Coolant temp range performance? What do I replace? Is it the one on the thermostat housing? My 124 has had several temp sensors. By the way, the AC does not work either.

Please help!!

Somewhat a rare code. However that means that a return voltage signal to the computer from the sensor was implausible. Either no voltage(open circuit) or too high of voltage (shorted sensor) was received by the computer. TRY a new sensor if the wiring looks OK!

Thanks for the reply, 2 questions
1) Which sensor am I looking at?
2) Do I have to reset the ECU, or is it self re-setting once I fix the problem?

Thanks alot.
