Oil level sensor bad, where is it!!
I have a trouble indication stating that the low oil level sensor is bad. I purchased a new sensor, and it is a two part assembly. I am a new owner of the E320 Mercedes, so just looking under the car, I was unable to locate the sensor assembly. Can anyone help? By the way, this is a great web site. Thanks in advance for the great forum.

What Engine do you have..if its the 104 you must remove the lower oil pan to access the oil level sensor..It is secured to the crankshaft main cap with two bolts then the wire goes through the engine block at the PASS side. The Connector is secured with a slide clip that must be removed to push the wire through the block. You Will Need a NEW lower oil pan gasket and a can of brake clean ..Do NOT over tighten the lower oil pan bolts!
Takes about 30min to do... |

Mark,
Thanks for the help, I thought that may be the case. The car is a 1998 E320 gasoline engine. |

M112, remove lower oil pan, look to the passenger side. you'll see the uper part, unplug and remove. Look to the rear, you'll see the lower part, unbolt. Reverse to reinstall. Seal pan with Benz sealant. Dont forget to plug it back in and put oil back into the engine.
