Rear Sun Blind 126 Series SEC 1990

Hi Again

My rear electric sun blind on my SEC is not working.. The motor is going but it sounds like the gear is either stripped or has moved along the shaft.

I havent got a problem with re-gearing this, I only have a problem with accessing the actual blind and motor!!!

I removed the First aid and storage compartments, but still could not see how to get to the blind. I did a search on this forum but could not find anything..

Do you have to removed the speakers, and then unbolt the complete unit from inside the boot/trunk??.. Any help would be much appreciated...

As an aside, I will try to post my own helpful comments, but I am sure you all know what it is like when you buy another Car, you tend to be a bit selfish and want the little bits and pieces done first!! As this is my first change of car for 11 years, I want to channel my enthusiasm into getting the niggly bits done!! I have posted quite a few tips previously on a 116 group before I knew of this forum, and as I owned one of these for 11 years, I maybe able to help someone out if they have a particular problem..

Regards

Shane

You need to remove the rear parcel shelf to access the blind assembly.

Remove the rear seat, remove the first aid kits and remove the c pillar covers then the shelf should come out.

Matt.

Hi Matt

Thanks a lot for your help... Followed your instructions and also removed the rear speakers to make it easier. Toothed nylon strip that sits inside the motor/gear was broken at the end. Mercedes UK dont sell it seperately, so I glued it, but it broke again.

Luckily enough there was enough strip left for the blind to operate fully up and down, so all fixed.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Shane
