I had my car for 1 week now, and NO problems........it is great. I would like to learn the mechanics of this car, yet, I have found out that no service, or parts, manuals are available.

Is this true???????????????/

I can see now why MB doesn't make the manuals available. They have just found a way to get $3,000 per year, per person, just to see these things. As an owner of just one car, no thanks.

While I don't agree with their policy, I do think it is clever of them to do this.

But if the market was broad enough aftermarket manuals would be available - but it doesn't seem like enough people work on their own cars anymore - especially newer SLs. But can't you buy a CD for the car for $125 or something like that. The sad thing is that if you're screwed, so are the indenpendent shops.

All part of the new cost of auto repair. I use and give of my information quite regularly, but when I charge for repair information is becoming one of the significant ingredients to the final product.

I think the yearly charge is really geared towards people like Steve who would use it every day, not an owner. An owner, if he wanted to try repairing something or researching some aspect of the car, could do a short-term use of a day or a week, and remember you can print out lots of info in a day.

Hopefully Dan and Steve and Donnie and the others don't forget just how much we really do appreciate all their help and the sharing of the knowledge that is really nothing short of foregoing income for some.

Thanks again, guys!
