The Dreaded ASR Light With Loss....
of power. About 6 weeks ago my Benz ran flawlessly. It is a Spruce Green 95 E420 SE with 98k.My ASR light would blink from time to time but gradually got worse to where drivability became a major problem.I know that this horse has been beaten to death but after reviewing some posts along with pics i decided to take a look at the Can/Bus. After removing the top for the first time the first thing i noticed was 4 red 10amp fuses which i proceeded to pull out and inspect. The fuses looked fine so i thought about pulling out the modules but darkness had set in so i thought that i would wait until today to undertake this. After replacing everything i decided i would take it for a test drive and boom immediate power and the interior lights on the dash even seemed to be brighter. The light would flash for a half second or less after stops but the more i drove it the less it came on.This morning after i drove to a park to walk the dog it started coming back on with loss of power. After a stop at the store it still was acting up.At a stop light i decided to press the accelerator a little more than i usually do on take off and it has worked fine every since.I now have taken the module out to inspect it.I remember someone talking about taping over pins 25 35 37 i believe it was but one said the fix was temporary.I will let you all know what happens after i return the module with a little cleaning to its proper place.I plan to get a brake lamp switch just to see if i can narrow this problem down followed by the switch at the pedal.
Hope that this may help someone.Sorry for such a long post.BTW does anyone know whether the throttle cable should have a lot of looseness in it.The grommet at the end of it seems like it does not hold it tight if it should.Again sorry for the long post.
