purge valve cost slk 230

I just got a new purge valve installed, it cost 70 for part and 170 for labor. total 253.00 did I get taken? Also I have a blinking low gas light that goes on once and a while like a strobe light. when I have lots of gas...... anyone know why it is doing this?
