upper latch for child seat 124
My 1987 300E owner's manual says that there is an anchor point on or near the rear parcel shelf on which to attach an upper anchor strap from a child seat. I can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?Thanks

Not sure. May have to add HW. I had three added in my '95 VW Jetta some time ago -- dealer was balky by VWNA made them do it for free.

All our MBs since about the mid '70s have had 2 or 3 tapped holes in the parcel shelf (or behind the rear seat or on load area floor in the case of the wagons). They are tapped 5/16" from memory and usually have a black plastic cap (about 25mm or 1" dia.) screwed in when not in use. Maybe this was some unique requirement for Oz deliveries although I'm fairly sure the owner's manual covers it.

Australia does have some unique requirements. The M-Class has a separate rear floor part number which includes the threaded plate. These were manually installed in the factory body shop after drilling holes, because the low volume didn't justify automated stamping and welding.
