check engine light
I have a 1994 Mercedes E-320 Coupe with 112500 miles on it.
Today when I started the car, the check engine light came on. I am having the head gasket replaced and the motor mounts replaced. Would either of these problems cause the light to go on? The temp is normal and the oil pressure is good, the car doesn't seem to run any different than before the light came on. It doesn't flicker, it stays on all the time. What does this mean? Thanks, Bill Scott |

Whenever the CEL comes on, your onboard computer will log a trouble code.
This code needs to be retrieved & analyzed. You can get this done at most competent service facilities. It does not necessarily have to be the M-B dealer.

On a 94 you can probably check engine codes yourself. I'm not sure where the X11 connector is on your car. Check the archives.
Make sure the fuel filler cap is on tight. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
