preparing to replace broken sway bar mount brackets

The piece that holds the sway bar on my mom's 420SEL, rusted in the center and now broke. The frame isn't rusted or anything like that, so I can just replace the broken parts. Anyways, I've heard that I can keep the master cylinder in the car when this is performed? Two people in another thread said that's how they did it. They said they just moved the fusbox to the side. I think that I would like to leave as much in as possible. My biggest worry is the fusebox. How does it come out? Will there be a large harness connector that can be undone to remove it, or should I just unbolt it and push it to the side?
Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.
Thanks
David

P.S.
How long would I be looking at for this job?
