ident help on part under the air filter....
Hi All,
I've read a lot of posts on different problems and can't understand most of them since the parts mentioned are new to me. Can someone help identify the parts accessible underneath the filter housing... http://members.toast.net/sjsfiji/car/car_1.jpg http://members.toast.net/sjsfiji/car/car_2.jpg http://members.toast.net/sjsfiji/car/car_3.jpg http://members.toast.net/sjsfiji/car/car_4.jpg thanks,

Anything in particular or everything?
Let's see how well I remember the M103... - the thing in the middle of pic 1 is the inlet of the air flow sensor - the octopus 'above' the air flow sensor inlet is the fuel distributor - the tower between the air flow sensor inlet and the fuel distributor provides access to the mixture adjustment screw - the lines from the fuel distributor terminate at the fuel injectors or nozzles - the brass thing to the 'left' of the air flow sensor is the fuel pressure regulator - the cylinder between the dipstick and the fuel pressure regulator is the idle air valve - the vacuum line extending from the #1 intake runner goes to the ignition controller (EZL?) - the ball and socket joints and bell cranks are part of the throttle linkage - the thick plastic cable going to the 'right' of the air flow sensor is the throttle cable - the thich plastic cable that goes by the oil filter and has bellows at the end is the bowden (kick-down) cable to the transmission - the black plastic box bolted to the 'right' of the air flow sensor is the electrohydraulic actuator (EHA) - the thick fuel line going into the fuel distributor at the 5 o'clock position is the fuel feed from the pump - it's not cleaR in any of the pics but if you follow the fuel line that exits the fuel distributor at the 7 o'clock position, it goes to the cold start valve just 'above' the fuel distributor. I think it has a blue electrical connector. - the tall hollow nut at the left edge of pic 4 is the tensioner adjustment for the serpentine belt. It's not actually under the air cleaner. Locations indicated with single quotes are relative to the pics as presented, not relative to their locations as installed. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL Last edited by sixto; 04-30-2004 at 01:56 PM. |

parts
Sixto,
Thanks for the description. I'm going to remove the air cleaner this weekend and get acquainted with the parts. Hopefully this will let me understand the posts in this forum in more depth. Thanks for taking the time to write....
