Early shifting
My 230 88model w124 shifts very fast, when i dont push the throthle very hard it shifts at rpm less than 2000.So it shifts to 4th gear at 40km speed. Is it normal? Also when i kick down and the car is in 4th gear at low speeds it downshift to 3rd gear instead of 2nd and i dont get the desired power. Also i think that the car should downshift when you press the pedal without touching the kick down solenid???My car never downshifts except i touch the kickdown with full pedal force.Does the fast/early shifting of gear at low rpm will decrease the fuel consumption???

You need to have the Bowlen cable adjusted properly.
