The Dreaded ASR Light With.....

loss of power revisited. Man i do not know what i would do without the knowledge that is shared on this site. For those of you who have experienced ASR issues you know exactly what i speak of.Its absolutely no fun at all chugging down the road in your baby at 20mph and pressing on the accelerator only to see that its to no avail at all.My Benz finally got to the point of the asr light coming on pretty much all the time. Thanks to Steve Brotherton Gilly Benz Mercedes Doc Tangas Bible JCE and too many others to be mentioned. I read where Steve had informed someone about the snow chain switch helping as far as asr issues go and that helped me in many instances. But when your Benz is sick nothing matters but getting it well and back to perfect health. Today i started out by replacing my brake lamp switch and crossing my fingers. The initial take off was well but after about 2 blocks that big ugly yellow light that ive become to detest reared its ugly head again. I did not panic. My wife asked me did it work and i said no and that i was going to ask some guys on the forum some questions. I then read some posts about the wheel sensors and one particular poster talked about the metal shaving that accumulate from the brakes i believe it was. So after taking off the front passenger wheel there it was the metal shavings exactly as he had spoken. After cleaning both sides which were fairly shavy and gunky i rotated the tires and hoped for the best. Fired the baby up and took her for a test drive and NO ASR LIGHT! Just to be sure i took her on a 50 mile test and its like i have more ooomph from the power plant than i did before. I am one happy camper because now my baby is an E420 again. I would like to ask a favor of you all if i might. During the course of each day if you can please try to remember our people who are in Iraq Afghanistan Korea Germany and many other places around the globe. These people who are dads moms sisters brothers aunts uncles grand moms and dads are laying it on the line each and every day. They did not ask to be there but they still are.Just say a little prayer if u will that our people will be brought home safely from a world that does not seems to care or understand what their duties are. Sorry for the long post guys but i appreciate the willingness to share helpful info that dispersed here all the time. Again sorry for the long post but thank u ALL.

Jim
