if 300E's came standard with leather, why doesn't mine have leather?

I have an 89 300E and in the "Featured Cars" section of this web site I read that they came standard with leather. Mine has the MB vinyl stuff, which I don't mind, but was wondering, if they were supose to come with leather, standard, why not mine?
