94 E420 - Code #11 on electronic accelerator control (EA) module
Folks,
Using the reader that I built some time ago, I decided to check to see if I had any codes set on my vehicle. I checked them a long time ago and cleared them all out, but one of them came back again. Specifically, it is code #11 on the electronic accelerator control (EA) module. JimF has a great site and a page that explains this module: http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_EA.html According his page as well as the earlier post which I mentioned this code, here is the definitioni of code #11 for that module: 11- Closed Throttle recognition signal to engine control module, LH-SFI. Fuel safety shut-off to engine control module, LH-SFI Can anyone tell me what I can look in order to determine that cause of this code? Thanks!

Willy, do you have . . . .
any codes in the DM??
If you look at Menu#1 at the block diagram, you'll see a connection from the EA (N4/1) to the CTP switch, S29/3 (called the Pedal Force Recognition Switch) and that maybe bad or making a bad/intermittant connection? Probably 'fried' due to engine heat. Let us know. |

Also, here is what alldata says... not sure exactly how to read it.

There is an outside chance I did not properly clear this code out the first time.... so I'll just monitor it for a while and see if it comes back.
Here's another picture

Well, My code 11 is back. I only noticed it because my check engine light came on and I decided to check for codes on ALL of the modules. Check engine light was due to a code #26.
So, the only codes currently on my vehicle are DM #26 and this EA/ICS/CC code of #11. Are they related? What exactly is code #11? I posted the text in a previous post above.

I have no symptoms regarding this code #11. I read your post, but don't see the relevance to my problem. Interesting though, and I'll keep it in mind.
What is the difference between EZL and DI??

There is no difference...
DI/EZL are the same both referring to the Ignition Control Module. It control your timing, injectors, and also take information from your knock & crank sensor while communicating with your other computer modules.

On the accelerator pedal is a micro-switch (S29/3-feeds EA direct), this switch "confirms" that the throttle (M16/) is in the idle position. I believe if it has an intermittent connection your ASR light would come on and the ASR system might go into limp home mode. I may be wrong about the failure characteristics. A small investment in this micro-switch may be worth it to see if it will cure your code 11.

Then you will not need this switch, however you may need to prepare for a new actuator at some point in the not to distant future. Double check your engine harness too.

Not yet. I have a code #26 on one computer and a code #11 on another. Have not resolved either yet.

No problem with any codes for now....
Willy, tell me does your engine starts and runs properly. Is there any stalling or idle problems. I am trying to recall what I did once I got code #11 from the Electronic Accelerator/Cruise Control/Idle Speed Control module N4/1. I know that I replaced the Electronic Throttle Actuator with a new one that I purchase from the $tealer$hip ($1300.00)and I still got the same code# 11. So I don't think the problem is 100% the ETA. Give me more info on how the engine reacts once you fire it up.

My car runs/starts fine. No noticeable problems at all. No stalling or idle problems.
