I have a 81 300D, 83 300SD. I want to know if I could put the compressor from the 81 300D on SD? (even though they have different part #,they look identical)

Why rob Peter to pay Paul? If its the standard R4 compressor, You can get a 'new' rebuilt one at Auto Zone Auto Store for about $120.00 Good luck.Bill L. Lex.Ky.
