Identification Plate Codes
Does anyone know how to decipher the identification plate codes? I can ID 2 numbers, the paint code (199 in my case) and 124036, which is chasis & engine number. I can't figure out which one is the interior color code. My dealer told me it was 275 but that doesn't make sense to me (I can't find 275 in color code listings). I'd appreciate any help.

Try using the search function at the top right of this page. I know the info has been posted before and is available through a little searching.

I can't tell you what you should have from home but I can say that 275 in a 124036 500e from a certain chassis number would be some form of Cream color.

I don't think the interior color code is on the data plate. But it would be on a VMI / vehicle master inquiry, which would be available from the dealer.

Here are a couple of links for deciphering option codes:
http://www.amcon-luxled.com/mbcar/options.html http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm The list on the radiator frame tag is not comprehensive. There might be a list among the papers with the owner's manual, tucked behind the back seat or some tag in the trunk. The dealer or someone with a copy of the EPC can get you a list of codes as well. You'll need one of the websites above to get descriptions of the codes. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
