260E ride height
Is it just me or are the 260E's sitting higher than the 300E's ?
my 260E has about 7 inches gap between the tire and the fender in the front and almost the same in the back. I noticed most 260E's site high. why so ? are the shocks / springs different than the similiar 87 300E's ? because the 300E's seem fine to me. I want to lower the car but I dont want to either use sportline or other aftermarket options because I want to keep the soft ride and not end up with alignment problems. But if someone could shed some light on the differences in the two W124's and whether or not they're swappable then I'll just get the 300E shocks and replace them. any ideas / suggestions ?

Shocks should not affect ride height unless they are bent.
Springs are the answer. Shorten the springs if want the car lower, of course the ride will change. The alignment will also need to be checked & re-adjusted.
